The honest version of who we are
Most "review" sites in this category won't tell you how they work. We'd rather you know exactly what this is.
What The Recovery Yard is
An independent editorial project run by [EDITOR NAME] — we research the home-recovery market (cold plunges, saunas, and everything between) and match people to the setup that fits their space, budget, and climate. The quiz is the whole product: it exists because "which one should I actually buy?" is a fit question, not a "best overall" question.
How our recommendations work
We compare current specs, pricing, financing terms, warranty and delivery policies across leading brands, and we keep those numbers current — this category runs near-permanent promotions, so a review written six months ago is usually quoting the wrong price. Our quiz logic routes on fit rules (space → footprint, budget → tier, climate → outdoor rating), and those rules are the same regardless of which merchant pays us more.
What we don't do: we don't run a testing lab, and we won't pretend to. Where hands-on testing matters we say so and point at the merchant's trial/return policy — most quality merchants in this category offer real return windows precisely because home fit is the thing you can't know from a review.
How we make money (the full version)
When you buy through links on this site, the merchant pays us a commission. It never changes your price. Two commitments behind that: our quiz routing is based on fit, not payout — the logic is identical whether or not a merchant has an affiliate program — and we'll tell you when waiting is smarter, like when a current promo is weak. A recommendation engine you can't trust is worthless to us; trust is the entire business model.
The fine print, plainly
Nothing here is medical advice — talk to a qualified professional before starting heat or cold routines, especially with any health condition. Financing figures are illustrative examples of merchant-advertised installment options, subject to their lender's approval. HSA/FSA eligibility is decided by merchants and your plan administrator, not by us.
